The Foundation
The Fondazione Candido Speroni e Carla Fendi Speroni was founded in 2016 by Carla Fendi Speroni. Building on the previous cultural organisations she set up in the 2000s and following the death of her husband Candido Speroni, at the height of her maturity and experience, she gave substance to their artistic sensibilities by establishing the Foundation that bears both of their names.
President Andrea Formilli Fendi and the current Board of Directors, explicitly commissioned by Carla Fendi, continue the Founder’s intention to dedicate an art collection of great cultural interest to the City of Rome as an instrument of dissemination and knowledge, keeping the promise to create an exhibition venue open to the public that highlights the refined taste and eclecticism of the two collectors.
Reaffirming the Speroni couple’s strong bond with the city and their desire to share their passions including their love of art, music, theatre and many other aspects of national and international culture with the Roman public.
Mission
The Foundation was established in 2016 at the behest of Founder Carla Fendi Speroni with the principal aim of preserving, conserving, promoting and enhancing the cultural, ideal and material heritage of the Art Collection, the furniture and their personal archives. Testimonies of a life together, guaranteeing its continuity and growth and undertaking to disseminate its special characteristics, content and historical values. In this spirit, and in accordance with the above-mentioned concepts, the Foundation acts mainly in the world of culture, music, cinema, education and didactics, and in any case in all these sectors, so that this heritage becomes an instrument of knowledge, growth and international reference (charitable works, donations to organisations, etc.)
The Logo
The Foundation’s logo is a graphic design by Karl Lagerfeld created especially for Carla Fendi.
The letter that accompanies the drawing testifies to the artist’s idea of synthesising the initials of the two friends in an acronym: the letter “C” for both Carla and Candido, the “S” for Speroni and obviously the “F” to indicate the surname Fendi, a precious testimony of a deep emotional bond and a lasting creative association.
